Pushed Tube Drive from a Pedal

Capture the sound of a tube amp pushed to the brink with the Aspen Pittman Designs Duo Tonic overdrive pedal. The tube channel uses dual 6205 pentode tubes to play the role of a vintage amplifier and sets the stage for the Duo Tonic's overdrive/boost side to work its magic. Together they give you the experience that only pushing a tube circuit to saturation can produce. Get a ton of tube-driven distortion tones from a single pedal with the Aspen Pittman Designs Duo Tonic overdrive pedal.

Aspen Pittman Designs Duo Tonic Overdrive Pedal at a Glance:

  • Quality components for quality tone
  • Designed by two giants of modern tube technology
The tone of a cranked tube circuit in a pedal

The Duo Tonic ovedrive pedal is designed to feed its solid state overdrive side into the tube section. This is both is the key to its sonic diversity and what gives it the ability to emulate the sound of a tube amp getting pushed hard. The solid state side can be used to nudge a tube amp toward saturation. Or you can use the tube section like a new channel on your amplifier, all the while having a separate JRC4558 based overdrive to push any of your tones into crunchier territory. Better yet, use both sides together and let the distortion run wild!

Quality components for quality tone

Aspen Pittman Designs spared no expense in the Duo Tonic pedal, using only top-quality components inside. The only way to get real tube sound is to use real tubes, and driving the tube channel you'll find a genuine pair of military-spec 6205 pentode tubes. And the overdrive/boost side of the pedal gives you classic mid-hump drive tones thanks to the JRC4558 chip. This chip ensures you're getting incredible touch sensitivity and that authentic drive that's been used to push tube amps for decades.

Designed by two giants of modern tube technology

Sweetwater Advice

Aspen Pittman Designs Duo Tonic

The tube side...sounds a bit like a Deluxe Reverb at the edge of breakup....The second side is based around a JRC4558D, the op amp associated with TS-style circuits....These can be very Dumble-esque. But you can also generate deep, complex, Klon-style low-gain overdrive tones....
