Vintage Analog Delay with a Modern Mod Onboard

Ever since the original DM-2 analog delay pedal left the market in 1984, pedal collectors have been on the lookout for its dark and moody bucket brigade tone. The BOSS Waza Craft DM-2W isn't just a reissue DM-2 - it's a total rebuild that offers you the same amazing character with none of the clock noise that plagued the original - and that's just the standard mode. Next, there's the DM-2W's custom mode, which increases the maximum delay time from 300ms to 800ms and adds warmth and clarity to the repeats for a more modern analog-delay sound. What's more, both of the DM-2W's modes take advantage of two additional modifications, which include split optional split wet/dry outputs and an expression pedal input that lets you control delay time on the fly.

Waza Craft: a higher art of stompbox design

The Japanese word "waza" means art and technique, an appropriate name for BOSS's premium line of redesigned guitar effects pedals. You see, the pedal collectors here at Sweetwater have seen more than enough special-edition stompboxes that are only a paint job away from the originals, which is why we're so blown away by what BOSS has done with the Waza Craft series. Even in their Standard modes, Waza Craft pedals sound like idealized versions of the originals, offering the same sonic character that made them iconic, but with less noise and more consistent tone. And when you A/B the standard mode and the custom mode, the contrast is nothing short of astonishing.

BOSS Waza Craft DM-2W Analog Delay Pedal Features:
  • A custom reissue and redesign of the original 1977 DM-2 analog delay pedal
  • New bucket brigade circuit topology provides authentic tonal character without clock noise
  • Standard mode offers the dark and brooding analog delay sound of the original DM-2
  • Custom modes doubles the delay time to up to 800ms and adds warmth and clarity to the repeats
  • Split outputs let you run your direct and delay sounds separately
  • Plug in an expression pedal for on-the-fly delay time control
Get both vintage and modern analog delay effects with a BOSS Waza Craft DM-2W!

I used a competitor's analog delay for a few years and then a pretty fancy boutique pedal for a while. I decided to look around and this buried them both. It has the perfect amount of brightness and simple controls. You can use tap tempo but you almost don't even need it. It's fun to play around with delays that have lots and bels and whistles but when you just need reliable, pure analog delay this is your jam.

Has the Warm Analog Vibe I Love

Like all Boss pedals, the DM-2W has effective buffering, which is important when plugged into the effects loop of my Bad Cat Unleash. Also, like all Boss pedals, the DM-2W features great solid construction, but this pedal is all about old school, warm analog tone IMO. And that's exactly what I wanted. I was looking for the warm slap back sound of my old Echoplex, but without the hassle of cleaning heads and rollers, changing tapes, etc. The DM-2W does this surprisingly well in the standard mode, and I'm not missing the old Echoplex at all. The primary note stays prominent and clear while the warm repeat(s) adds the warm, natural sounding ambience that brings joy to my ears. Add to this the added sonic capabilities of the Custom mode, and it's really a no-brainer for me. Great pedal.

Amazing pedal

I just boughh this amazing machine. It's the best delay I've tried, such a great sound!

Sonic paint brush and glorious dark colors.

Boss hit the nail on the head with this one....two features sold me on the dm-2w on the already superb dm-2: the two outputs and the added expression pedal control. This pedal has super, sexy tone in both standard and custom settings with custom having twice the delay time with clearer echos. The best thing about this pedal is that your guitar's note rides on top of echos like a surfer riding a beautiful, dark, ambient wave. Grab one of these paint brushes up and start painting before Boss stops make them and their price shoots to the moon on ebay.......

one classic

Excellent very versatile pedal and with a very warm delay . I use the pedal with several guitars and classic guitars and sounds great .
