Reveal the Best of Your Amp with This Transparent Speaker

The Neo 250 Copperback delivers tone by the truckload, but without Celestion's signature cone breakup. Built around a neodymium magnet, this speaker is all about transparency. It reveals the best characteristics of your amplifier without imparting additional coloration. So instead of Celestion's trademark growl, you get a sound that's teeming with tight lows, neutral low mids, defined upper mids, and well-controlled highs. If you're aiming for the classic "brown sound," then the Neo 250 Copperback isn't the right speaker for you. But if you want less midrange vocal intensity, shimmering tubular-bell-like cleans, and flute-like high gain, the Neo 250 Copperback is a clear winner.

Preliminary Review

Just purchased a few weeks ago, and I loaded it into a mojo 1x12 cab. To be honest, my expectations were very low because of my previous experience with neo speakers. Pleasantly surprised! As described, it really is a very neutral-sounding speaker, none of that annoying midrange bark that Celestion is known for.
My gold standard for speakers is the Alnico cream, but the Copperback is half the weight, and it works great for clean jazz. No regrets.

Great Alternative to the EV "Sound"

I've been using Eminence E12N (Neo version of the EV "clone") and I really like them but some of the guitar "character" is lost. A bit too clean. The Copperbacks have enough of the Celestion midrange to bring this type of speaker to life. It cuts better and a bit more "jangly" when clean. The E12N is more jazzy dark. The Copperback more British but still subdued compared to the norms like the V30, Greenback, etc. All your amps tone really comes through.

So, if you find EV style speakers too boring and British speakers too "in your face" and colored. This is the one to get. Very lightweight also, about 3lbs.

Smooth and Articulate

I put this in a Deluxe Reverb and also used a Quilter 101. Sounds awesome to me, really seems to complement the character of the amps. Little bit less bass than an Eminence Swamp Thang and not at all harsh or sterile. Sure it's not an Alnico magnet but I don't think of that as a drawback with this speaker. I can't wait to play a lot of pedals through it

Crystal Clear

I bought this speaker to primarily be inside a 1x12 lightweight cab that is powered by a S.D. Powerstage and pedalboard rig.
Similar to other reviewers here, I agree that this speaker does a good job of not coloring your sound too much.
So I feel that I am getting the most out of my pedalboard rig.
I tend to lean towards Fender-type tones.
This speaker does a great job for that sound.

I did also try this speaker as a 1x12 extension with a couple of other mid-gain tube amps in a non-pedalboard-rig approach.
It does great here as well.

Highly recommended!
And it feels lighter than it looks...Super Cool :)

Great Sounding Speaker

Beautiful sounding, pretty flat response speaker, that can handle a lot of power; and the lighter weight is a plus. I demo'd this speaker next to a Mesa Boogie Black Shadow and it sounds just as good.
