Classic Tube Mic Mojo!

Miktek's CV3 large-diaphragm tube condenser microphone gives you the natural warmth and incredible versatility studio engineers everywhere long for. Unlike many boutique microphones that sound good on vocals but distort on drums or capture strings wonderfully but sound brittle on winds, the CV3 covers all bases remarkably well. As you cycle through the CV3's nine distinct pickup patterns, you'll notice not only how well it rejects off-axis noise, but subtle variances in its tone that add to its natural range and character. From the live room to the vocal booth, the Miktek CV3 is the condenser microphone you want.

Handmade from top quality components

The beauty of the Miktek CV3's sound lies in the choice of a custom AMI T7 transformer working in concert with a subminiature pentode vacuum tube. Combined with Miktek's tried-and-true MK9 capsule, which features dual 1" diaphragms, this circuitry gives you that wide-open sound that both artists and mix engineers absolutely love to hear. Like all Miktek microphones, the CV3 is handmade and comes with both a wooden presentation case and a rugged aluminum travel case as well as both a swivel mount and a shockmount.

Outstanding Vocal Mic

Tried it through UA 4110 and Focusrite ISA 110 and both sounded stellar. Threw down some scratch vocals and it sounded dynamite on a male, gritty-voiced baritone. The vocal cut through and sat perfectly in the mix--particularly when it was being kissed by an 1176. It also sounded great as the overhead on a two mic drum track (the other being a kick mic). Plenty of detail and a bright top end without being harsh. The track really shined rolling off a little top end and putting it through a G-buss compressor. The only downside I found was that it had a little more noise than I would have liked while recording acoustic guitars. I look forward to using it again in the future. It might not be the only mic you would want to have (perhaps something not tube would be a better choice for your jack-of-all-trades), but it would be a wonderful first choice vocal mic--particularly at the price point.

Miktek CV3

I can't imagine a better bang for the buck than this particular microphone. After reading and watching many reviews of this mic from many industry professionals I took the plunge and ordered two. I recently did a shoot out with a Neumann M147, Rode NTK and the Miktek CV3 with a block of Vintech preamps. The results were stunning. With female vocals, male vocals, acoustic guitar and tambourine the clear winner (within seconds of listening) was always the Miktek. Detail, quality, depth unbelievable. When you figure in 9 polar patterns it just gets ridiculous. I can't wait to record a symphonic band with the two. Buy now! I can't imagine this mic staying at this price.

Get it now

This microphone has exceeded all my expectations. I've used mics that cost 3-4 times as much and the CV3 competes. Very natural sounding on acoustic instruments, high end is crisp and full bottom end. Great on vocals, mid-range cuts through the mix with very minimal eq. Very impressed with Miktek! Don't even bother thinking...just get it. Your recordings will thank you!

Best of their line for me

I tried this out at NAMM against all their other mics. I already own a C7 and like it just fine. I was blown away how much better the CV3 sounded on my voice than the C7, and it even sounded noticeably better than the CV4... that was a real shocker. I will be ordering one of these in the near future. But I should note that just because this mic sounds the best for me, may not be true for you. All of Miktek's lineup sounds wonderful, but you just have to find the one that compliments you the best.
