Must-have Tool for Dynamic and Ribbon Mics!

From stage to studio, the Cloud Microphones Cloudlifter Mic Activator lets you get the best possible audio output from your low-output dynamic and ribbon microphones. The Cloudlifter CL-1 provides up to +25dB of gain that partners with your preamp in amplifying your mics' signal for clean, transparent recordings. With a Cloudlifter in your rig, you need not hesitate to take full advantage of your favorite ribbon mics and other go-to low-output dynamic mics.

Noise-free amplification

Many preamps sound great until you push them, resulting in all the hiss and crackle produced by the amplifier itself ending up in the mix. The gain boost provided by your Cloudlifter lets your mic pre work more efficiently, giving you the levels you need, without the noise.

Instant ribbon pre mod

Ribbon mics are wonderful, but many microphone preamplifiers are simply too weak to get enough signal out of them. A Cloudlifter Mic Activator will turn your preamp's harmful phantom power into as much as +25dB of extra gain, transforming even a budget model pre into an effective ribbon preamp.

Upgrade any dynamic mic

The forums are full of love letters from satisfied engineers who've used their Cloudlifters to get new life and energy from their low-output broadcast mics. However, the amazing Cloudlifter can make even cheap handhelds sound like studio standard mics by bringing out those frequencies that are normally too quiet to notice.

Totally transparent boost

Cloud Microphones designed their Cloudlifter series around direct-coupled, discrete JFET circuitry, engineered to preserve the natural sound of your mics. So, no matter how dramatic of an impact this transparent technology may have on your recordings, you can be sure you're really just hearing your mic at its best.

Essential for long cable runs

If you work in a large, multi-room studio or an auditorium like the Sweetwater Performance Theatre, then you won't believe what a difference a Cloudlifter will make. With its extra gain boost to drive your signal, even cable runs over hundreds of feet won't drain the life out of your sound. The result is nothing short of remarkable.

Cloud Microphones CL-1 Cloudlifter 1-channel Mic Activator Features:

  • Provides up to 25dB of noise-free amplification; your low-output mics will come to life
  • Turns any microphone preamplifier into a studio-quality ribbon pre
  • Naturally enhances the sound of any dynamic mic, bringing out frequencies otherwise neglected
  • Boosts the signal at the source, so long cable runs won't sap the signal's vitality
  • Ultra-transparent JFET circuitry protects your tone

Dope

I like it. Helps with SM7B I am using.

The Cloudlifter CL-1 is amazing.

I don't know if there is a Santa Claus factory inside the CL-1 or what, but I do know this preamplifier is equipped to produce a very strong, clean, quiet audio signal even when used with a fairly ordinary microphone. Its highlight I believe is to make a $60 to $100 mic behave like a far more expensive one.

Amazing!

Actually i was kinda skeptic about it. After I received it, I decided to try it with a vocal guide track using Sure SM57, just to see how it behaves without risking a real track.Well...to cut a long story short, that guide track is going to be used in the final mix :)I think that tells the whole story, doesn't it....

Cloud Microphones Cloudlifter CL-1

The Cloud Microphones Cloudlifter CL-1 does exactly what it's sold for: a quiet quality gain from the unit which I tried with a number of different mics such as my EV RE-20 which does not have much gain to start with however, the CL-1 has given it 'new life' so to speak. I tried it with a signer who has a notoriously soft voice output and was able to capture much more depth with a SM58 in a live application no less. I recommend this preamp for any and all voice applications with any microphones which does not require phantom power to operate.

A Booster Rocket

I've always had low audio level bar readings with my gear using my condenser SM58 mike. Adding the Cloudlifter CL-1 solves that problem. Finally I can really hear myself!
