Competition Grand SK-EX Rendering and Virtual Piano Artisan
The CA701 features Kawai’s new Competition Grand SK-EX Rendering engine with multichannel piano sampling, which allows for smoother transitions across the keyboard, more natural bass sounds, and a stronger duplex scale presence. The result is acoustic piano realism that is unprecedented in a digital piano. One of the major advantages of digital pianos, aside from the fact that they don’t require regular maintenance or tuning, is the flexibility they offer to customize settings. To that end, Kawai’s Virtual Piano Artisan function has 20 adjustable parameters that facilitate advanced tonal adjustments similar to the way Kawai’s Master Piano Artisans expertly voice acoustic Shigeru Kawai grand pianos.
Responsive Grand Feel III keybed for authentic feel and response
Kawai developed their Grand Feel III grade-weighted hammer-action keybed used in the CA701 to capture the distinctive feel of an acoustic grand piano. Grand Feel II action incorporates let-off simulation (also called escapement) that provides the subtle “notch” you feel when you press the keys of a grand piano very softly. A feature of grand pianos not found on uprights, let-off allows you to quickly repeat notes without fully releasing the key. Just as acoustic piano hammers are heavier in the bass and get lighter as you move up toward the treble end of the keyboard, GFIII action uses different hammer weights that are graded for each playing range. This fastidious attention to detail gives you maximum stability when playing fortissimo passages, while giving you the delicate pianissimo control you need.
Harmonic Imaging XL technology delivers lifelike grand piano sound
Sit down at the Kawai CA701 and play. The stunning piano sound you hear is none other than the meticulously sampled sound of the revered, handcrafted Kawai Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand, with all 88 keys painstakingly recorded and faithfully reproduced using Kawai’s Harmonic Imaging XL technology. Unlike many digital pianos, Kawai’s proprietary process employs 88-key multichannel stereo sampling, which captures sound from different locations within a grand piano for stunning dimensional realism. Furthermore, capturing the sound at multiple velocity levels accurately recreates the immense dynamic range of the instrument, giving you a truly impressive measure of expressiveness, from ppp to fff and beyond. If this were the only sound onboard the CA701, it would be a fabulous value, but there’s also a robust selection of additional instruments that includes reed and tine electric pianos, drawbar and church organs, strings, choirs, synth pads, and more.
Beautiful cabinet with immersive 6-speaker sound system
The Kawai CA701 digital piano makes a classy, understated stylistic statement with its sophisticated modern-traditional design and attractive finish that complements the décor of any room in your home. But the elegant cabinetry does more than look great. Integrated into it is Kawai’s high-performance six-speaker system, which leverages cutting-edge amplification technology and 360-degree diffuser panels to deliver a richly immersive, room-filling grand piano experience that will be savored by all. Want to entertain your guests in an intimate jazz club or a cavernous cathedral? Kawai’s SK-EX Rendering offers 10 types of ambience, so you can choose the “venue” you’re playing in. Transform your living room into a world-class concert hall and experience the sheer thrill of playing a magnificent grand piano. With the Kawai CA701, the world is your oyster!
