Simple, Effective Clipper for Mastering
A clipper is essential at the end of any mastering signal chain, and the Bus Clipper from Slate Digital works in two stages that provide you with more digital headroom and perceived loudness. It also boasts multiple oversampling rates with Linear Phase or Minimum Phase filtering options and a True Peak Limiter, working in tandem to stop audio artifacts in their tracks. Sweetwater mastering engineers especially laud the Bus Clipper’s small CPU footprint, a result of its intelligent anti-aliasing algorithm, which creates fewer artifacts by design. This means you achieve the same results using the 16x oversampling rate as you would with another plugin's 256x rate. Complete with a familiar Gain Reduction (GR)-style meter, real-time monitoring of both Integrated and Short-Term Loudness as well as True Peak levels, and a Delta Listen function that lets you hear exactly what the clipper is removing, the Bus Clipper is sure to become the secret weapon in your digital mastering toolbox.
Note: This product requires that you have an iLok account for authorization, although it does not require a physical iLok key. Please contact your Sweetwater Sales Engineer if you have questions.

Two stages with easy control
Bus Clipper operates in two stages, dubbed “The Clipper” and “The Booster." In the first stage, The Clipper removes imperceptible transient spikes, providing you with more digital headroom. The Clipper provides you with everything from slight saturation to hard clipping via its three modes (Gentle, Tight, and Harmonics), all easily controlled by the Shape knob. During the second stage, The Booster uses advanced waveshaping to increase the perceived loudness of the remaining signal. Likewise, The Booster also retains three modes (Mellow, Standard, and Aggressive) that are adjusted via a Gain knob and are complete with a visual display.
Slate Digital Bus Clipper Features:
- User-friendly 2-stage clipper for mastering applications
- "The Clipper" stage removes imperceptible transient spikes to provide you with more digital headroom
- Shape knob controls 3 modes for The Clipper (Gentle, Tight, Harmonics) and provides slight saturation up to hard clipping
- The Booster stage uses advanced waveshaping to increase perceived loudness within the remaining signal from The Clipper
- Gain knob controls 3 modes for The Booster (Mellow, Standard, Aggressive), complete with visual reference
- 2x, 4x, 8x, and 16x oversampling rates with Linear Phase or Minimum Phase filtering options and True Peak Limiter work to eliminate audio artifacts
- Anti-aliasing algorithm creates fewer artifacts, so you can still use 16x oversampling without taxing your computer
- Real-time monitoring of Integrated and Short-Term Loudness as well as True Peak levels
- GR-style meter lets you monitor clipping like you would compression or limiting
- Delta Listen function enables you to hear exactly what the clipping is removing
- Constant Gain Monitoring maintains consistent volume between A/B processing
