The Next Generation of Celestial Sound

When it comes to the untapped potential of musically rich celestial sounds, the sky is the limit. At least, that’s the case with the Strymon BigSky MX on your pedalboard! The next-generation BigSky MX equips players with exciting new BigSky sounds, including dual reverb modes, and its powerful new ARM processor unlocks greater potential. All the while, the pedal’s core tools remain plenty familiar to previous BigSky users. You’ll find known BigSky favorites, plus seven new modes, including Swell, Reflections, Chamber, and Impulse. Utilizing the ARM processor, Impulse unleashes impulse responses (IR) up to 10 seconds long, and it supports full IR editing tools and the ability to add your own IR creations. New dual modes let you combine up to two reverb styles in series, parallel, or as separate effects mapped to individual footswitches. Moreover, a dedicated Infinite switch lets you freeze and sustain the signal for instantaneous pad-like textures awash in glorious Strymon detail. Explore even broader atmospheric horizons with the Strymon BigSky MX reverb pedal from Sweetwater!

Craft and store lush libraries of effects

With 12 modes and ample customization under the hood, the BigSky MX covers every type of reverb imaginable. Modes such as Shimmer and Cloud supply lush celestial ambience, while others cover conventional reverb styles, such as Hall, Room, and Chamber. The Magneto mode takes on delay-like character, while the Nonlinear mode gets experimental and defies conventional physics. The options are vast but always easy to configure! Gigging players at Sweetwater like to take advantage of new dual modes with custom presets that put contrasting modes on each footswitch. Try putting an experimental mode like Nonlinear next to a traditional sound like Spring and be amazed at the ground that’s covered without turning any knobs or changing presets.

The Big Sky MX's potential extends beyond these 12 sounds — you can deeply edit single and dual effects, then fill up a library of favorites using hundreds of built-in preset saves. The BigSky MX’s new large OLED screen keeps deep editing a simple affair with no additional gear or software required. There are plenty of surface controls for quick tweaks to modulation, tone, mix, and other key parameters.

Dual 'verbs and custom IRs

With the ability to combine two reverbs together, the BigSky MX offers exponentially more custom reverberations than previous iterations. If you thought the original BigSky was lush, then try layering old favorites together on the BigSky MX! Dual 'verbs can be distinct parallel events, or you can crash them into a series for highly interactive ambience that explodes with reflections of reflections of reflections ... you get the point. The new Impulse mode also opens a new frontline in the war on analog with a fully customizable canvas just beneath the surface and 22 included impulse responses captured using analog gear.

Expansive stereo joins robust I/O

Stereo outputs, unique routing, and Class A JFET preamps give the BigSky MX unprecedented lushness and ambience. The BigSky MX’s dual mode functions are meticulously optimized for stereo use, including options that let you pan different modes to either side or mix them in parallel or as a series. You can also store hundreds of presets and call them up using MIDI (5-pin or USB-C). Connecting an expression pedal unlocks more interactive play with the ability to tweak various parameters on the fly.

Tri-core ARM processing

What about lag times? They’re nowhere to be found! The BigSky MX’s incredible tri-core ARM processor drives enhanced DSP quality and your ability to layer modes together for an even bigger sound.

  • The next generation of celestial reverb multi-FX with 7 new modes and updated BigSky classics

Not waiting for the next big thing!
mx short for mellowsubmarine, is as big as reverb pedals get. Glad I waited to add a separate reverb to my pedalboard. It's worth the price and then, some more. Thanks to Sweetwater for making it available and for financing. Awesome!

Strymon BigSky MX
This is an excellent pedal. Very intuitive and very powerful.

Hi, I'm John, and I'm a keyboardist ("hi John")
Well, before getting the BlueSky MX, I was trying to make amazing granular pads using different tools such as integrating VST effects into my Montage 7 Classic, and Mininova, but that life was getting harder and harder. I lost my wife, my job, my children and I lost my motivation to continue with music. Friends and family tried to help me, but they all realized that I was beyond human help. It was hopeless. I was a keyboardist.

Just when all hope and all of the best efforts of humans had failed, I found BlueSky MX. At first, I was skeptical, and afraid, but I thought, "why not try it? After all, everything else has failed. What have you got to lose?" So, I did it. I bought the BlueSky MX. That is when my life began to change!

I had all of the Shimmer Reverbs, Cloud Reverbs and so much more than just granular expansive stereo effects! I got an owner's manual online! Wow! Pages 22 to 44 told me everything I needed to know!!! It was so easy to work the pedal and create all of the effects and change them with ease! I had Magneto for delay, IR reverbs and so much more! I even found that it was so noiseless and excellent, I integrated it into my studio external effects! Wow! Since it was MIDI, I was able to create a surface on my iPad to change it on the fly during performances! I was sad to find out that the MIDI out did not provide power, so I couldn't use my WIDImaster with it. But CME has other devices that overcome that barrier, too!

Now, I have my wife back, my job back and my family back by the grace of BlueSky MX. For that I am so grateful!

Yes, it is true, "once a keyboardist, always a keyboardist" but with the BlueSky MX, I have recovery and a life worth living even though I am a keyboardist!

I owe it all to BlueSky MX!

Yes, this will do the job, however.....
it is best to go the owners manual, pages 22 to 44. I know that watching a YouTube on this device seems better than reading the pages I mentioned, but, as much as you may know about reverb and other effects, these pages tell you exactly what these effects do, and how to get the effect you want. It is funny (and sad) to see on YouTube, the individuals who do not like this effect. It is clear that they did not read the brief manual. What a shame. After diving into those pages I mentioned, I can take a Blank preset in a Blank bank, and within a few minutes, get the sound and effects I want and understand where they fit in the effects chain. The next thing to look at would be the few pages after 44 to see how you can stack these effects for some amazing textures! The factory presets are nice, but just working with this effect with the manual open next to it will make you love this pedal.

Anyway. I use this effect in my home studio as an effect send in my DAW, and on stage with my keyboard rig. It is perfect in both environments. I even route it for live vocals. I am considering getting a second one for the vocals live. It is amazing!

Lastly, this has both delay and reverb (shimmer, impulse etc.) and Magneto. The Magneto delay can be programmed to align with BPM for live uses, has ping pong (amazing!), yes, I run stereo live, absolutely. We don't play huge events in arenas where LCR or mono is protocol, so, stereo is the way to go for live sound in the smaller events. BigSky kills it in these applications!

Lives up to its name!
As a keyboardist, THIS IS WHAT I WAS MISSING!!! For so many years, I tried to make synth patches do what this does to synthesizers. Now I get it. Great accessory to any keyboard rig.
