A Talk Box with an Effects Loop!

The Rocktron Banshee 2 updates their original Banshee talk box, giving you that classic Talk Box sound you know and love - now with even more compelling, new features. Of course, like the original, the reliable Banshee 2 features its own internal pre-amp, amp, and horn driver - just plug it in and you're ready to make your guitar sing, talk, and create some seriously freaky sounds. And now, the Banshee 2 even provides an effects loop so you can add other effects into the talk box signal path for even more tonal possibilities! Rocktron also added an active LED so you can tell right away whether the Banshee 2 is engaged.

Rocktron Banshee 2 at a Glance:
  • Classic Talk Box with Modern Reliability
  • Get More with the New Effects Loop
  • Tweakable Preamp Section for Killer Results

Classic Talk Box with Modern Reliability
Bringing a cool, new twist to the outdated generation of complicated and risky talk boxes, the Banshee 2 gives classic rock touches to the 90's players. Although "talk boxes" have been used in the making of hit music (Aerosmith, Frampton, Joe Walsh, etc.) for years, many guitar players simply have not tried them because of their complicated and potentially damaging setup. Leave it to the stomp box gurus at Rocktron. The Banshee 2 rocks, simply and safely. What makes the Banshee 2 so unique is that it contains its own internal preamp, amplifier, and horn driver. You simply plug into the Banshee 2 like you would any common stomp box, and run the provided "tubing" up the mic stand and into your mouth. The rest is up to your own imagination as you get the most incredible sounds from your instrument. And no more risk of blowing up your favorite amp head, (always a possibility with talk boxes of old).

Get More with the New Effects Loop
The talk box is an incredible effect on its own, but think about tacking on your favorite delay or distortion pedal - or maybe you want to try your wah, or flanger for some seriously singing tones. Whatever arsenal of effects you imagine, try them with the Banshee 2 - it features a new effects loop so you can add whatever wild new sounds you want in front of it, or you can put it through your guitar signal path at the same time!

Tweakable Preamp Section for Killer Results
The Banshee's preamp section features controls for gain, tone, and output level. A wide range of clean and dirty preamp tones may be dialed in with plenty of saturation for those who desire lots of gain. Guitar World Magazine wrote: "The Banshee's high-gain preamp and focused tone control allow for excellent enunciation and sustain. With minimal practice, I was able to create clear words and open vowels, and I could readily see how anyone could become addicted to this effect."

Serious fun!

I've always wanted to play one of these and finally picked one up. From looking at it, you get a good idea of what it does and it certainly meets those expectations. However, I was not prepared for the sheer fun and creativity that this thing sparks! It's not something you will use on every song you play - not even on most - but when you do, it can really put a smile on your face!

I've used it on guitar, guitar synth, an analog keyboard synth, and bass. It has nice crunch right outta the box, and you can add your favorite fuzz box or other effects as well. I really like the option of having my normal signal going at the same time, especially with my bass; I get the wacky talkbox effect thru a mic while my bass rig keeps pumping out low end.

Hands-Down Best on the Market

Major points to my sales engineer, Brandon Eden, for this one. Bought it a little over a year ago, and it is hands down the most well equipped and best sounding talkbox on the market right now. Eliminates the need for a wah pedal on your board and is a really fun effect in general. The Banshee II rocks! Key reasons this smokes the competition: - The Versatility: All of the knobs on this thing are very responsive and the amounts of different types of screams you can get out of it is insane. Max out the gain and tone and you've got the perfect smooth but authentic sound for hi-gain talkbox songs like Livin' On a Prayer or Sweet Emotion. Then dial the gain back to about 9 o'clock and bust out a little Peter Frampton or Rocky Mountain way. Very easy to "speak" with your guitar at lower gain settings, plus the output level is perfect for bedroom practice, and a good mic and PA will let you gig this thing no problem. - The Amp Enable/Disable Switch: All talkboxes need something like this. Let's face it: If you can't nail the rhythm of a talkbox riff before you stomp on the switch, the actual talkbox part will never sound right. This little switch lets you practice up rhythms and solos, while also getting used to the way to use your mouth during whatever you're trying to learn. It allows you to really take things one step at a time, and then when you're ready to perform, you can kill the amp and just get 100% talkboxy, screamy goodness. - The Speaker Ext. Port: With this red little guy, if you have a spare PA, you can basically make another amp out of the horn driver in your talkbox. That's pretty awesome. - The built in, switchable effects loop: I personally don't need this, but if you have a group of effects on your board you like to engage and disengage simultaneously, you can do that with the send and return jacks in the side of the pedal. Very handy! Great product, and I'm 100% satisfied. Rocktron really has outdone themselves with this one! Oh, and let's not forget how amazing Sweetwater's Service is. Free Shipping, no sales tax, and amazing customer service. It's really a no-brainer!

Pleasantly Surprised.

Having owned a Heil Talkbox, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of sound this box supplies. It is awesome and I don't have to take chances with my amp. That was one of the drawbacks I had from my Heil, my amp had to be cranked loud to get the sound I wanted. I've actually blown a few tubes. But this is an awesome, no worries way to get that classic sound. Rock on Rocktron.

Very authentic sound. Needs to be set to full gain though for proper sound. Easy to use and the effects loop allow custom sounds.
