US to UK, clean to grit

The Artist 30 comes with two independently voiced channels to seamlessly switch between clean and crunch tones. The 6L6 power tubes deliver a glassy, American-style tone to the clean channel. The dirty channel will take you through British crunch and drive. Using a boost or overdrive on this channel will easily take you into high-gain territory. And two 12" Celestion V-type speakers impart a balanced mixture of vintage and modern tones, with just the right amount of cut.

The features you need for the gig you're on

Sweetwater guitarists know that modern players need quick access to many different tones. The Artist 30 is loaded with features to ensure these sounds are easily attainable. You'll get maximum clarity for your time-based effects in the series effects loop. Blackstar's patented ISF control shifts the character of the amplifier's tone stack between British and American voices. And the onboard reverb can add a touch of ambience to your guitar tone or spill into surf-type washes.

A great platform for your pedals

Blackstar designed their Artist series amplifiers with your pedals in mind. Both channels are engineered to work extremely well with all sorts of different effects. The clean channel is a blank canvas for any of your favorite drives, fuzzes, distortions, or any other pedals. The dirty channel loves being pushed harder by boosts and overdrives. And the series effects loop allows you to get the most out of your delays, choruses, reverbs, and more.

Blackstar Artist 30 30-watt Tube Combo Electric Guitar Amplifier Features:
  • 30-watt tube combo that will work at most gigs
  • Clean and crunch channels deliver varying shades of gain
  • 2 x 12" Celestion V-type speakers offer warm British tones
  • Series effects loop is ideal for time-based effects
  • Onboard reverb
  • ISF control tailors the character of your tone
If you need one amp to do it all, the Blackstar Artist 30 may be your amp.

Blackstar Artist 30 Amp

This amp is amazing!!! I seriously cannot say enough about this amp!!! WOW!!! I have been downsizing my set-up but I didn’t want to downsize my sound. A friend recommended I check out the Blackstar Artist 30. Reluctantly I did… Not because I hadn’t heard that Blackstar makes good amps, but because I was going from a Marshall Half Stack to a combination amp, and I thought I would just stick with Marshall. I have nothing bad to say about Marshall amps, they have been my go to amp because they are awesome, but when I plugged into the Blackstar Artist 30 I was blown away with the amazing tones that were produced from this amp!!! But, I wanted to make sure I was hearing it correctly and not just from the amazing guitar I was playing through it. I ran home, got my pedalboard, my favorite Les Paul, and headed back to the store to see if it sounded just as good with my setup!!! It absolutely did, and after about 2 hours of rocking it out, I had to have it!!! Blackstar is simply ridiculous!!! I can’t recommend this amp enough!!! Five Stars All the Way!!!!

Thoroughly impressed

I had never played a black star, or even had one around me before I bought this amp. I have owned a few oranges, and a Marshall, but this amp swept all of them under the rug. I was initially worried about the clean channel and it's only control being the tone control; I soon found out there is a lot of flexibility in that little knob. I also use some equalizer pedals to hone in my tone, but I do not think you would need one. The 2nd channel is perfect. Loads of flexibility, and a beautiful sounding crunch. This is not a high gain amplifier, but that can all be fixed with a pedal. I was not looking for a high gain amp, and I admire the vintage tone I got out of this thing with no pedals on. I'm beaming at the tone. My favorite part of this amp, is the knob's sensitivity, you will have a lot of control over your tone, and it changes quickly as the knobs move. My tiny terror was not as sensitive, and this was a welcomed change. Also, they have a great staff who can help you find whatever you need. My sales engineer Geoff is the man.

GREAT AMP

I've been spending YEARS looking for the right amp for me. I wanted a good clean amp I could run my pedals through and still get a clear sound without everything getting muddled. Marshall's were too gritty, Fender's were too bright, Orange's didn't have a good clean sound I needed. Most importantly, all of these amps couldn't handle my pedals. My pedals (Tubescreamer, OCD, EP booster - just to name a few) either sounded too muddy or too gritty. I formally owned a Blackstar HT-Stage 60 and was very happy with how it handled my pedals, however the clean tone on the amp wasn't the best. I came across this amp online and took a gamble by buying it without even trying it. As soon as I plugged in I was blown away. The clean sounds on this amp are beautiful. Very chimey and crystal clear, more of a warm dark amp than anything. However, the first channel sounds pretty bad (the channel with just volume and tone). Not really sure why it's there, I think the amp would be better with just one channel. I only ever use the second channel. But the amount of controls you have to dial in your perfect clean tone is great. You have standard eq plus the ISF control PLUS an individual gain and volume knob which really allows you to shape a great clean tone with ultimate clarity. I wouldn't recommend turning the gain up and trying to use the amp for distortion, you almost need pedals for this amp but they fit with the amp so well (I keep the gain knob around 10-11 o' clock). The biggest thing for me is when you turn on your pedals it doesn't lose any of it's clarity. Still sparkles and chimes when you have distortion pedals all the way up (I would highly recommend buying an EP booster with this, it really tightens up the sound and makes it that much better). Doesn't sound gritty or muddy - sounds exactly how it's supposed to (at least how it should sound in my head). I think Blackstar really nailed this one, and now I understand their slogan "The sound in your head" because this is the sound my head has been dying to hear.

Black star A-30

The Blackstar franchise is on the right track! This amp has a presence and clarity thats pretty awesome. The distortion channel is the most flexible,It is also the only channel with eq. selection. Once you have set the distortion and volume to the place you want, you can work your guitar volume to get punchy cleaner rythem sound's, and crank the volume to get nice lead tone's,add dist. pedal for more sustain. Wah talk is of the hook, really cool. The clean channel need's some tweaking to get a warm tone..To mid barky,a little to different sounding from the distortion channel..all said i, am a blackstar fan. How about a 3 band eq on the clean side?
