Just what I Needed

I've been using in ear monitors for a few years now and have always had to keep one in to hear my monitor mix and one out so as not to be totally disconnected from the audience and the rest of the band. I used the AM Pro 10 for the first time this weekend for a gig. With both earpieces in I could hear everything!! I could hear the drums, bass and my amplifier with the ambient monitoring. I adjusted my mix to bring out my guitar and vocals and a few other parts I wanted to hear better. When we stopped I could hear the audience and talk with them and talk to the band mates with no problem at all. The Am Pro 10 had a great sound and was super clear with balanced highs and lows.I was also able to lower the overall volume of my mix to be more comfortable since both earpieces remained in. Awesome Monitors from Sweetwater, Thanks, Paul!!

The item description for the Am Pro 10 states "reproduces your performance's full frequency range, low end and all". Unfortunately, it only produces treble. When I called Westone support to ask why I couldn't hear any bass, they said you have to buy the Am Pro 20 to get any kind of bass response. The Am Pro 10 only has one driver and it does not produce bass. My problem now is the Am Pro 20 is almost twice the cost of the Am Pro 10s. So, I'm stuck with tinny, no bass in-ear monitors. I am a bass player and have to use the ambient bass from my speakers since the Am Pro 10 does not produce bass. One the good side: The audio produced is very clear and they are comfortable to wear. The ability to hear ambient sound is a real plus.

Okay I guess, but disappointed

Just got these, and I'm sorry to say that these are rather disappointing. While they are well-made, the sound is clear, and the ambient aspect of the design is pretty good, they are sorely lacking in bass. I wasn't looking for a subwoofer sound, but was hoping for something along the lines of reference monitors. These are so lacking in bass as to be distracting while I play. I'm doubly disappointed because I was willing to spring for the 20 or 30 models, which according to Westone have dedicated subwoofers. I called their customer service, described my playing style and situation (solo singer/guitarist) and was advised that the AM10's should work for me. Of course, there's a no-return policy on these. So rather than spending the extra bucks and getting something really nice, I've got a substantial amount invested in a pair that are marginally ok. Can't say that I'm pleased. If you want something with a decent bass response, hold out for the 20s or 30s.
