Stunning Signature Acoustic from Gibson

To celebrate a versatile artist, Gibson is proud to offer the Nathaniel Rateliff LG-2 Western acoustic-electric guitar. The LG-2 is a blend of its namesake's own vintage LG-2 and a Gibson Country Western — a wonderful combo that results in a smaller-sized instrument that packs a lot of sonic punch. The Rateliff LG-2 features a solid mahogany body with a solid Adirondack spruce top for an incredible blend of punchy midrange, crisp treble, and lush low end. A gorgeous mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard delivers impeccable response and feel, ideal for fingerpicking or flatpicking. You can play this exquisite acoustic unplugged and easily fill a room, but Gibson knows you're also going to want to plug this beauty in and treat a larger audience to its lush sonic presentation. As such, the LG-2 comes with the renowned LR Baggs VTC electronics for absolutely jaw-dropping acoustic tone.

Ideal singer/songwriter acoustic

If you are a singer/songwriter looking for an ideal accompanying acoustic, then the LG-2 Western acoustic-electric guitar will win you over at first strum. This slightly undersized acoustic features a 24.75-inch scale length, making it nice and easy on the back when strapped on for live performance. The combination of mahogany and spruce is legendary for its balanced midrange and upfront treble — a wonderful sonic blend that pairs nicely with just about any vocal style. Folk, blues, slide, and fingerstyle players will love the Historic "V" profile that makes for a comfortable thumb position up and down the mahogany neck.

LR Baggs VTC electronics deliver amazing sound onstage

The Gibson Nathaniel Rateliff LG-2 Western comes with LR Baggs's VTC acoustic pickup system, a popular choice among acoustic guitarists at Sweetwater. This system features a low-profile under-saddle transducer that's proven more stable and durable than many standard ribbon-type pickups. Its sleek and effective design removes unnecessary internal components to enhance the coupling between the pickup and the guitar while also improving the sensitivity of the transducer for a robust, lively, and natural acoustic sound with excellent dynamics and delicate high end. Combined with an onboard preamplifier with an unobtrusive and removable volume control mounted just inside at the bottom of the soundhole — a custom feature preferred by Nathaniel — and this system delivers impeccable amplified tone!

Gibson Nathaniel Rateliff LG-2 Western Acoustic-electric Guitar Features:

  • Exquisite signature acoustic that's ideal for singer/songwriters
  • Solid mahogany body with solid Adirondack spruce top for an incredible blend of punchy midrange, crisp treble, and lush low end
  • Renowned LR Baggs VTC electronics for jaw-dropping acoustic tone
  • 24.75-inch scale length makes this slightly undersized acoustic easy on the back when strapped on for live performance
  • Historic "V" profile makes for a comfortable thumb position up and down the mahogany neck
  • Genuine bone nut and saddle for enhanced resonance
  • Genuine Gibson crown inlay on headstock

Worth Every Penny

Sweetwater is always a pleasure to do business with, and this guitar is hands-down the best guitar I have ever owned. At first, I was kind of reluctant to spend the money that I did on this signature model, even though I've had my eyes on Gibson LG-2s for a while now. But I have no regrets whatsoever and am super glad that I scored this beauty -- everything from the double parallelogram fret marker inlays to the binding job and finish is just ... wow! If you're on the fence about this buying guitar, treat yourself and you will not be disappointed.

My favorite of all time

I cannot put into words how much I love this guitar. I have owned four different Taylor acoustics, as well as currently owning a Martin 000-18 (which I also really like). All very nice instruments. But in my opinion no other guitar comes close. Looks awesome, nice, full sound from a smaller body guitar, feels wonderful to hold, great to fingerpick or strum, electronics A+. And Richard was great to work with as usual. I've been a Sweetwater buyer for 25 years and I've never been disappointed. Thanks Richard!

New best friend

This guitar could be a desert island guitar. It feels like an old friend already. I have many guitars and this is already my new go to all the time. If you can get one of these . Of course Ben from Sweetwater is the man!!!

The One

I've been searching for the perfect singer/songwriter and blues guitar for a little while now. I've contemplated and tried others, but when the LG-2 Western was announced, I knew I had to get one. Perfect body size, playability, sound, and looks absolutely killer. I was even lucky enough to get a lefty. This guitar will be a writing partner for life. A desert island guitar in all cases. Get your hands on one before they are gone.
