Built with quality in mind
The 195 provides a pad (-15dB) and bass roll-off (10dB ) - further enhancing this microphone's extraordinary versatility. Component selection and construction reflect Bock Audio's dedication to lasting quality. The capsule uses a premium-quality 1-inch gold-sputtered diaphragm. The electronics package has no surface mount components. Instead, it incorporates Roderstein resistors, low ESR elecrolytic capacitors, polypropylene coupling capacitors and a unique FET circuit exhibiting remarkable low noise, low capacitance, and extended high frequency characteristics.

No FET fizzle
Ample headroom throughout prevents the FET "fizzle" plaguing other designs, while a massive output transformer maintains coherent signal integrity across the full audio bandwidth.

The "do-it-all" mic
For budget-conscious studios facing a wide range of demands, the 195 serves as a "do-it-all" premium condenser microphone. It delivers superb results on lead vocal tracks as well as in VO/ADR use, providing remarkable fullness and presence with exceptionally low background noise.

Handcrafted excellence
195 capsules are hand-picked by David Bock. Each capsule must meet his criteria or they are rejected. The other microphone parts in the assembly are all sourced locally in Los Angeles and hand assembled, one at a time, by David Bock himself in his production area in Los Angeles, CA.

Great Mic

Purchase this to use as my main vocal microphone. It does a stellar job on female vocals but I am particularly blown away by this microphone on cello. So far I have only used it on female vocal and cello, but I can only imagine that it will be incredible on most acoustic instruments . U195-API -Distressor-

Bock Audio 195

A friend of mine has this mic and I went to his house the other day to record a track. He showed me this mic and it was all downhill from there. I used this microphone on literally everything I recorded that day. From upright bass, to dobro, to violin to vocals and acoustic guitar. I barely had to do any mixing after the session!!

Does it all

This is an incredible microphone. Great for woodwinds, seriously, try this on a tenor saxophone! It's great for vocals too, and I recently mic'd a bass drum with it and loved the sound of it. I can't imagine it would sound bad on anything really. The mode switch is a definite plus, and it goes from a clean 'norm' mode to a more vibey 'fat' mode that i prefer most of the time for my purposes. It's like two mics in one and you really can't go wrong here! I'm seriously considering saving up for another! I will say however, that I'm not a huge fan of the mic clip/mount and am looking into getting a shockmount for the microphone. Besides that, the functionality and sound of this thing is still worth 5 stars to me!

Great Vocal Mic

I did a blind A/B vocal test with this mic (the Soundelux U195 version) against vintage rebuilt U47s, U67s, and U87s. I was STUNNED. The 195 was the CLEAR winner to everyone listening. How could this be? I'm a male baritone. The bass response was deep and had just the right strength (it was beautiful). The high end was perfectly airy. How could this FET mic do this? Well, it did. Great vocal mic.

Sweetwater Advice

Robby Resnick

The Bock Audio 195 is an amazingly clean, slightly vintage-sounding, switchable FET mic. It's clean, crisp, and very transparent, yet has a lot of character. Definitely one of my personal favorite FET mics for vocals.
