Zip It in One Fast Mouse Click

Every Mac owner has a lot of friends with PCs. One the most frustrating things is trying to send them an attachment – photos, PDFs, and so forth. While things have gotten better recently, you’ll probably hit this speed bump fairly regularly. Thankfully, there’s an easy way to create a file that almost any PC will happily accept, and that’s by compressing it into a ZIP document. Mac OS X users can simply Control-click on the item you want to send, which opens a special window. You just scroll down and select “Create Archive.” In seconds (depending upon the size of the file and speed of your computer), you’ll have a ZIP file you can send to anyone running Windows. It even automatically adds the file extension “zip.” This is also a good way to create files that AOL will accept, since it sometimes refuses to see certain attachments. By creating a ZIP archive, you’ll have a file that AOL will cheerfully recognize. That’s all there is to it!
