TC Electronic made three big announcements at the Barcelon AES convention. First up is the DVR2 Digital Vintage Reverb for the PowerCore family of plug-in accelerators. The DVR2 is drawn from a System 6000 algorithm emulating the classic EMT250 plate reverb, which is still widely used on lead vocals in studios around the world. The new plug-in can be used with any VST-, Audio Units-, or RTAS-compatible audio system (RTAS requires using an optional wrapper).
TC also announced Restoration Suite 2.0, which adds the DeThump plug-in designed to remove low-frequency pulses. The impulses in the beginning of the thump are left unprocessed so that the further processing stages (DeScratch/DeClick) are not affected by DeThumping.
Four new plug-ins were announce by TC for Digidesign Pro Tools HD systems. The TDM plug-ins are ported from TC’s high-end System 6000 system, include MD3, VSS3, DVR2, and NonLin2, and are expected to be available during second half of 2005.
