For those of you who have been waiting for the release of the latest version of Ableton Live, your wait is over! The company has announced version 7.0.3, which delivers a number of improvements, enhancements, and bug fixes (the ones the Orkin guy can’t reach). Registered owners of Ableton Live 7 can get the update absolutely free by choosing “Check for Updates” directly from within the Live 7 Help menu or by going to the Ableton site. Note: You’ll need to have an established account or you can create one when you log in for the first time.
We just got word that GigaStudio 4 from TASCAM is now shipping. Building on the features of GigaStudio 3, the new version fully supports 64-bit operating systems like XP64 and Windows Vista 64, allowing users to access up to 128 gigabytes of RAM for loading massive sample libraries and compositional templates, unlimited polyphony, 96kHz/24-bit sample support, 128 MIDI channel playback, and embedded GigaPulse convolution reverb. GigaStudio 4 also hosts VSTi and GVI virtual instruments, loading or stacking instruments alongside GigaStudio instrument libraries. TASCAM has also announced GVI 4, a new plug-in instrument powered by Giga technology offering support for both Mac and PC. More details will be forthcoming.
