On the Track of the Missing Interface (Mac OS X)

If your particular USB or FireWire device doesn’t seem to be accessible from within your software (it’s usually found in the application’s hardware options window), you can easily check to see if the Mac OS (operating system) is able to recognize it by launching the Audio/MIDI Setup application: Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities. Usually downloading a more recent driver will fix the problem. If you already have the newest version, download it anyway to make sure the copy hasn’t become corrupted. Then check/repair your disk permissions using the Disk Utility application.
