AKG has delivered their new, low cost K55 headphones. These lightweight, sealed headphones have a self-adjusting headband and single cable exit for a comfortable fit. Powerful 1.6 inch transducers provide extended frequency response for their small size. The price is right at $44.97.
Summit Audio has released their Extension 78 plug-in for Pro Tools. The Extension 78 is a very interesting concept in that it serves only as a user interface for Summit Audio’s fabulous Element 78 series processors. These analog hardware boxes are completely under digital control and ideal running mates with Pro Tools. The Extension 78 elegantly makes that a reality by recreating the front panel as a fully automatable Pro Tools plug-in. And it uses no DSP power (though you do need to route the desired signal to and/or from the Summit device). You may download your copy at their Web site.
