Q: “I keep breaking strings on my acoustic. Do you have any advice for how I can prevent this from happening?”
A: Your string breakage problem may or may not be the result of the strings you are using. On an acoustic, strings often break due to an excessively sharp break angle or rough area at the saddle, bridge, or nut. Analyze the regularity at which you break strings and the location of the break. If you think it is the guitar, take your instrument to a good luthier and have them look at it. If you are a heavy strummer, a medium-gauge string may be preferable.
