New in stock at Sweetwater Sound: Coda’s Print Music 2000 is here and in stock. This is a great notation program for beginners because it’s extremely easy to use, and the files are fully compatible (both directions) with Finale (Mac, PC), arguably the mother of all notation programs. The $69.95 retail program comes with both Mac and PC versions on one CD-ROM.
For those using (or who want to use) the notation functions of Emagic’s Logic software you’ll be happy to know the Logic Notation Guide has been updated to cover all score functions of Logic’s current version 4.1. It comes as a printed book with an electronic Addendum for the 4.0/4.1 features plus 28 tutorial song files on a floppy disc. They’ve posted a part of it on line for you to download as a sample to see the quality of the materials.
Steinberg has released their highly anticipated LM-4 drum module plug-in for the VST environment. The software features the kind of comprehensive editing you’d expect in sophisticated software, but retains much of the operational feel of a hardware drum machine.
