Space Control Bridge

According to Gretsch literature, “With the new Space Control Bridge, the guitarist can for the first time space his strings to suit every style of playing.” Hmm, wouldn’t they just want them spaced equally? The description continues: “Each string is provided with a transversing adjustment which makes it possible to set a broad spread of the strings for finger style or a narrow spread for pick and chord work.” This was replaced in fairly short order by the simple Rocking Bar Bridge and the top-of-the-line Adjusto-Matic bridge, both of which made a lot more sense.
