Smaller PDF Files Using Mac OS X

While it’s very cool that all Apple users can create their own PDF files from the Print menu without requiring Adobe Acrobat to be installed, the size of these files can sometimes be so large that they are virtually unmanageable! But rest easy, because there is a quick and easy way to create slimmer, sleeker PDFs! Launch TextEdit, then choose Print from the file menu. From the PDF pop-up menu in the bottom left corner of the dialog box, choose “Compress PDF.” That’s all there is to it! Now you can finally e-mail these to friends or clients without having them kicked back because they were just too big for most ISP mailboxes.
