Today’s tip is a word of advice from our Service Department Technicians – As well-built and reliable as most gear is these days, you may still have occasion to ship a piece of your equipment to the manufacturer or to a service center for repair or maintenance. When you need to do so, you are always best off using the original packaging the item arrived in (Save those boxes, people!). If this is not possible, be sure you pack the gear extremely well – we recommend double boxing and LOTS of packing material!
Corollary To Today’s Tech Tip: Electronic audio gear, especially recorders and anything containing a disk drive, is extremely sensitive to dust and particulate matter contamination (PMC). Wrap your gear in plastic before you pack it up for shipping – dust, Styrofoam peanut fuzz, and newspaper shreds are deadly enemies of your gear!
