While Australian based manufacturer, Rode, builds some truly superb mics, the company decided it should be able to offer users a perfectly matched monitor that would do their products justice. With that in mind, Rode has acquired California-based Event Electronics, which builds a number of professional quality studio monitor systems. At present, the plan is for Event to remain based in Carpinteria, CA. Peter Freedman, president of Rode Microphones, stated that, “Event is a long established and very well respected brand with a strong domestic and international sales program. We see a great deal of synergy in this union and I am excited about the potential for expansion of the line.” Rode employs 80 people at its plant in Sydney, Australia and has a dedicated distribution and service center located in Torrance, CA. It was actually Event that was instrumental in launching Rode in the U.S. market.
