The folks at Propellerhead Software kept their word and have a brand new version of their best-selling Reason software specifically engineered for use with the new range of Intel-Mac computers. Beta testing has commenced on Reason 3.0.5, which is not Universal Binary, but does offer identical functionality to the currently shipping 3.0.4 version, created for PowerPC-based Macs.
This new version will ultimately be offered as a free download for registered users. But meanwhile, in an effort to make it as robust as possible, Propellerhead is still looking for a few good men and women who want to try and crash it. If that’s your idea of a really good time, now would be the time to contact them, but only if you actually have an Intel-Mac, as this particular version won’t work on PowerPC machines. Both ReWire and REX will be made available as Universal Binaries at the same time as Reason 3.0.5 ships. The new version of ReWire (v2.5) sports significant performance enhancements when loading samples into Reason in a ReWire session.
