Propellerhead Software has announced that Reason 3.0.5, an update to its best-selling virtual studio software, is now available as a free download on their Web site. The big news is that Reason is now a Universal Binary application – that is, it’s Intel-Mac friendly, but also works on all those hundreds of thousands of PowerPC Macs in homes and studios around the world. The folks at Propellerhead have acknowledged the fact that feedback from the Reason user community played an important role in developing and testing this new release. The company has also updated ReWire and REX, which are both now Universal Binary. And ReWire 2.5 sports some significant performance enhancements when used to load samples into Reason.
According to Apple, there are now over 1,700 Universal Binary applications that take full advantage of the speed and power of the new Intel-based Macs, with plenty more on the way.
