Q: I own the BIAS Master Perfection Suite, which is awesome! But, I have run into a problem using the PitchCraft plug-in. I have successfully changed the pitch of a number of audio files, but lately I have been frustrated when attempting to alter the pitch of a few tracks. It is intermittent, and is that why I can’t seem to pinpoint my problems? Are there known issues with the software?
A: Without hearing the audio you were trying to shift, our best guess is that there was room ambience or other processing on the signal. Any sort of reverberation – even a tiny amount that you’d not likely notice – can cause the software to become (for lack of a better word) confused. That’s because the ambience (real or artificial) may not be in tune with the audio. Take a close listen to your audio and see if there is any sort of room sound that may be causing the issue. Another problem could be background noise. Try cleaning up noisy audio (using software such as BIAS SoundSoap) before attempting to pitch shift.
