Q: Does Pro Tools 9 really work with no hardware at all?
A: Absolutely! In fact, our own Editorial Director, Mitch Gallagher, has been running it on his MacBook Pro for several weeks now with no issues whatsoever. We can only imagine how many musicians and engineers are going to want this new, “open” version of Pro Tools! No audio interface is required, or you can use any Core Audio or ASIO-compatible audio interface you like. (Of course, for highest reliability, performance, and integration with the software, we still recommend using an AVID interface. Plus, there are some great deals going right now on PT9 that actually let you get an AVID interface and the new software at the same or lower price as the PT9 software by itself!
