Trying to cut down on the number of cables in your studio or live sound rig? If you’re using powered monitors or PA speakers/monitors, then check out Pro Co Siamese Twins – one of those products that makes you wonder why nobody thought of it before! These twin cables (get the “Siamese” reference?) combine balanced audio lines with a specially shielded, high-current AC power line, in a single rugged, cable assembly that’s suitable for a wide array of professional audio applications.
Standard Siamese Twins assemblies have a 36-inch tail for the AC input and 18-inch tails for the audio connector(s) at the “send” (mixer) end, along with a 12-inch fanout for both at the “receiving” (loudspeaker) end. JBL EON cabinets require an additional length of AC cable to reach their power-input connector and are available as a standard product. For easy identification, the audio cables(s) are color-coded with either a white or red jacket and the ends of each composite assembly are then color-coded using heat-shrink, with red indicating the end to be connected to the AC outlet and mixer and black for the end delivering power and audio signal to the speaker system.
