Pencil Mic

A slang term for a microphone, often a small-diaphragm condenser, whose physical design resembles a long, thin tube. Examples include the Rode NT-55, Neumann KM 184, AKG C451, Samson CO2, and many others. Most pencil mics are end-address designs, though there are some side-address models, such as the Audio-Technica ATM450.
