Fresh from our technical support staff, here is one of the latest “gotcha’s” customers are running in to:
“I just bought a new Zip drive from Sam’s Club and it is not working with my Sampler in the SCSI buss. Plus, when I connected it I noticed a burning smell coming from the sampler. What’s wrong?”
BE CAREFUL! Zip and Jazz drives are available in SCSI and Parallel port models. Many consumer electronics dealers sell the parallel port model. You need a SCSI model for your sampler. The two different types are totally incompatible with one another, and it’s likely the burning smell you noticed was the SCSI interface in your sampler dying. Your next stop is probably going to be at a service center.
Not to get too preachy here, but this is one of many reasons to buy all the components of your system from Sweetwater Sound. We sell systems that work. Sure, you can buy RAM and many commodity items from various sources, but we are careful to sell you what we know works with your sensitive (and expensive) hi-tech electronic music equipment.
