New in stock at Sweetwater Sound: Kurzweil has now officially thrown their hat into the electronic percussion ring by delivering the KPK (Kurzweil Percussion Kit). The kits come in a variety of configurations and there are a number of ways to add components to any kit. They do not come with a brain, which is kind of nice because you can supply the one you think makes the most sense for you. Obviously Kurzweil recommends the K2600R, and it is a very nice addition. Kit prices (again, sans brain) start at $975.

Given the recent developments surrounding Opcode Systems it has become apparent that the future of the company is in question. As such the future of OMS is also in question, which may have a huge impact on many of us. There is a petition going on line started by Doug Wyatt (the original designer and author) where you can add your name to the plea for Gibson to release the source code so it can be cared for by some other company.
