We all know how frustrating it is when you have a big attachment you desperately need to send someone, but it’s just too large for their ISP to handle (most service providers limit attachments to 5MB or even less). Mac OS X has you covered – Use iChat instead of your e-mail program! Once you’ve initiated an iChat session with the person who needs that humongous file, go to the Buddies menu, scroll down and choose Send File. Navigate to where the file is located (for convenience, you might just temporarily place it on your desktop) and click OK. The file will be sent to the person you’re chatting with, no matter how big it might be. A link to download that file will also appear in their iChat window.
