In reference to our TTOTD (3/16/98) on making non standard CD-ROMs, inSync reader Joel adds the following: “I found your tip on using the SCSI copy command in Toast invaluable. This has been a thorn in my side for a long time and [other support source] said it couldn’t be done. I now have CD-R backups of hundreds of hours of work that would be impossible to reproduce.
One tip though: On some machines the CD player must be set to the same SCSI id number as the original SCSI device that the files were on when they were saved. For example if my Syquest was set to ID #2 when I originally saved the files, the CD player must be set to SCSI ID #2 when sending bank DATA back to the sampler. Otherwise the sampler won’t see them.”
