The file format snafu again.
“I followed a previous Technical Tip suggestion (see TTOTD 3/17/99), which was to archive my sampler’s hard disk onto a CD-ROM disk using ISO image files. I have downloaded software called Winimage, which creates ISO files, but my PC (using the Winimage program of course) just won’t read my E4K formatted Syquest drive, making it impossible to create an ISO file. What am I doing wrong?”
There are a few possible problems. You need to somehow make sure your Syquest drive is able to be recognized by and used with your PC. The best way to do this is to read and write standard PC data to/from the drive. Try word processor files or whatever you have on hand. If you can’t do this nothing else is going to work. It is also possible that WinImage doesn’t work with Syquest drives. A possible solution to either one of these problems is to connect a fixed (non Syquest) drive to the EMU along with the Syquest and transfer the files to that first. Your computer and software may have an easier time working that way. Syquests can be weird, and they often require special drivers.
