Lucille

B.B. King spent most of his career playing a guitar he called “Lucille,” named after a woman who was the object of a fatal bar brawl that resulted in a burned-down club and King almost loosing his guitar. While early in his career King experimented with different guitars, his main guitar for the vast majority of his life was a customized Gibson ES-355. Gibson began making the Gibson Lucille model based on King’s guitar starting in 1981. The Gibson Lucille differs from the standard Gibson ES-355 in that it has a maple neck and no f-holes to reduce feedback.
