Line 6 has updated their AMPLIFi hardware line with firmware 2.1. Line 6’s AMPLIFi combines a wireless Bluetooth stereo speaker with a modeling guitar amp, all of which can be operated via a free iOS or Android app. The app not only lets you adjust the parameters of the guitar amp, but it lets you download music to jam to, along with guitar sounds specifically matched to the song. Firmware 2.1 introduces direct USB recording, allowing you to record using the same tones you’ve downloaded.
With Firmware 2.1, AMPLIFi becomes fully class-compliant, meaning you don’t need to install additional drivers. It is compatible with OS X, Windows, and iOS (you’ll need an Apple Camera Connection Kit to connect to your iOS device).
