As noted above, Kurzweil’s KDFX option is shipping and lots of people are starting to ask questions about installability. Well, we have good news and bad news: The bad news is that in order to install a KDFX into your K2500 you may need modifications to the motherboard. The exact modifications required will depend upon which revision board you have, which in this case, cannot reliably be determined from your serial number. The modifications can be anything from minor jumper changes to fairly intensive rebuilding. The good news is that these modifications are covered under the Kurzweil one-year warranty (machines outside of the warranty period are not covered). The really good news is that we are equipped to do all of these modifications, so when the time comes for you to upgrade, just send your machine to us and let us take care of everything. Our service technicians will not only get your KDFX installed and working properly, but they will also give the whole machine a once over and make sure everything is up to snuff. For those of you whose machines are no longer under warranty, it is probably a good time to get them in for a check-up anyway. This minor inconvenience is a small price to pay for the incredible effects in the KDFX.
