Yeah, it sounds like the title of one of those “chick flicks” – the ones guys gripe about, but usually end up enjoying even though nothing explodes (don’t worry, we won’t tell a soul). The Ivory we’re talking about here is the sample set from Synthology, and it’s been acclaimed as the “most authentic concert grand plug-in available anywhere.” Previously, only Mac owners could load up Ivory’s three monster grands:a German Steinway D 9, a Bösendorfer 290 Imperial Grand and a Yamaha C7 Grand. Starting right now, PC users will be able to join party thanks to the release of Ivory v1.5.
But Synthogy added more than Windows compatibility. They extended the dynamic levels by adding two more velocity layers on each piano so that all 88 keys are individually sampled in up to 10 dynamic levels (plus that Bösendorfer extended low octave). The end result is more than 40GB of exquisite 32-bit stereo samples with Proprietary Noise Reduction for improved fidelity. All current registered users of Ivory will be eligible to upgrade to the new version.
