Q: If I’m recording using a stereo effects box, how should I pan each track?
A: If you want the widest possible stereo image from stereo effects, pan your left effects return hard left, and your right effects return hard right. However, if you specifically want to narrow the width of the stereo effects you can do so by panning the effects returns closer to the center. It really depends on the result that you want; a good starting place is with the effects panned hard right and left, then experiment with narrower pans if you find the mix sounds cluttered or the wide effects are “fighting” with other tracks.
