There’s certainly no shortage of cool effects coming this year. Leading the charge is the BOSS ME-70, merging the ease of use of stompboxes with a COSM preamp section, for a quick and easy path to great tones.
Fan favorite electro-harmonix reinvents the Big Muff Pi – again. This time it’s in the form of the Big Muff Pi with Tone Wicker, which adds the ability to not only remove the tone control from the circuit completely, but also engage three different high-frequency filters for tonal flexibility. Also from EHX is the Signal Pad, a passive attenuator that can effectively turn any single-channel amp into a 2-channel amp by giving you the ability to inject a gain boost into the signal, thus overdriving the preamp.
On the bass side of things, Roland‘s VB-99 loads you up with a complete arsenal of modeled amps, effects, and instruments (including a synth bass), and it provides D Beam, ribbon, and V-Link controllers to control the bevy of sounds.
