A speaker cabinet design characterized by the speaker being mounted to the front of the cabinet or baffle. This configuration is very popular with studio monitors, guitar and bass cabinets, stereo speakers, and many types of PA enclosures. The other prominent design used over the years is horn loading, which is where the speaker is set back in the throat of some type of horn-like configuration. Each has its own strengths and weaknesses and is appropriate in different circumstances.
