Few guitars are famous enough to be named, but one of those is Eddie Van Halen’s homemade “Frankenstrat.” It was his attempt to make a guitar with Fender Stratocaster attributes but the sound of a classic Gibson Les Paul. It has an ash Stratocaster body, with the pickup routing modified to fit a Gibson PAF humbucker bridge pickup and a Floyd Rose tremolo system. The guitar has a maple neck and fretboard, and chrome hardware. Perhaps the most iconic element of the guitar is Eddie’s trademark red, black, and white striped finish.
