Q: “Since Apple owns Final Cut Pro, does it support Audio Units plug-ins?”
A: Well, yes and no. Final Cut Pro version 4 actually includes a set of Audio Units filters that you can use to adjust your audio clips. However, before purchasing third-party Audio Units filters for use with Final Cut Pro, check with the third-party manufacturer to make sure they’re compatible. Why? Currently, Final Cut Pro only works with Audio Units filters that are capable of accepting mono audio as input, and can output a mono signal. Also, certain Audio Units filters that don’t support certain properties required by Final Cut Pro for real-time playback will require rendering before playback. So, your best bet is to check with the Manufacturer or your Sweetwater Sales Engineer before purchasing.
