There are a number of things you can do to speed up the setup time between tracks. If the band you’re recording is planning to do a few songs, you may find it works best to do the drums for all the songs first (drums are commonly the hardest instrument to get miked). When you begin the session, save the session under the name “Template” after you’ve added and properly routed the necessary audio tracks, but before you’ve begun actually recording. When you’re ready to record the first song, save the Template session again under the song’s name using the “Save As…” option in the File Menu.
For each subsequent song, open the Template file (the one with no audio recorded into it yet), use “Save As…” again, name it for the song you’re working on, and record.
