Shure has updated the popular Beta 87 cardioid condenser microphone with the newly received Beta 87A. The Beta 87A has a thicker shaft for more comfort in hand-held applications and also has a new break resistant stand adapter.
Elektron has released a new operating system for their Sid Station synthesizer. For those who are unfamiliar, the SidStation is a synthesizer based on the old MOS6581 “Sid-chip” that was built into Commodore 64 computers. The new operating system (Version 1.1) adds extended table-sequencing functions, now up to 65 steps per oscillator. Upgrade kits and demos are available at the SidStation Web site.
Bit Headz has announced lower cost versions of two of their most popular products. There will be a Unity Player, which is based on the highly successful Unity DS-1 Digital Sampler and is designed for musicians and producers who don’t need advanced editing features, but do require professional quality sample playback. They are also coming out with Retro Lite, a less expensive and slightly scaled down version of their original Retro AS-1 Synthesizer.
