New in stock at Sweetwater Sound: Lexicon’s new Core2 digital recording systems arrived a few weeks ago and are proving to be very impressive for the price, especially since they just lowered the price to $499 (retail). The unit ships with Syntrillium’s Cool Edit Pro/SE and will have the MP-100 reverb and effects daughter board as a future option.
Digidesign is on the brink of releasing Pro Tools 5.0. We got a sneak preview of this some time ago and we can tell you this is no trivial upgrade. They’ve added some seriously cool features. For our customers, the most notable of these is that it will now have full-featured MIDI implementation. You will really be able to do legitimate MIDI work without having to switch over to a MIDI sequencer. Is it Logic Audio? No, but it’s pretty comprehensive and given the clarity and simplicity of their user interface will be a dream to use. There are some other really exciting announcements coming soon from Digidesign. Alesis has just posted the version 2.10 upgrade for the M20 at their Web site. This new version adds tons of new little things to make life easier when using your M20.
