Q: A while back, you ran a Tech Tip on using an expression pedal with a delay stompbox to control parameters. My favorite delay, the Boss DD7, can accept an expression pedal. But, I want to do tap tempo as well as the expression pedal. On the DD7, there’s only one control jack, which can take either an expression pedal or a tap tempo switch, but not both. Is there any way around this?
A: On the DD7, if you hold down the main bypass footswitch on the pedal, it will go into tap tempo mode — so you don’t have to use an external tap tempo switch. You can plug in an expression pedal and use the bypass switch for tap tempo entry at the same time.
