Cakewalk has unleashed their first three CD-ROMs in their new line of Cakewalk Loops. Each CD includes fantastic, royalty-free ACID-ized loops that can be used in SONAR, ACID, and other ACID-compatible audio software programs. The first CD is X-Mix Studio Loops, a collection of excellent samples for dance and hip-hop. The next CD, Rockit Fuel, provides organic, real deal drums, bass, guitar, and percussion loops for all your varied pop genres: rock, funk, etc. Finally, we have In Your Face, a collection of extreme sound effects to give your productions a unique sonic punch.

Digidesign is offering users of Pro Tools 5.1 a free upgrade to the newly released 5.2. The new version includes support for their DigiStudio Internet Collaboration interface. DigiStudio is a virtual recording environment that offers a convenient new way for Pro Tools users to collaborate with one another over the Internet.
