Waldorf has announced a 60MB Sample RAM Expansion for their Blofeld keyboard and desktop synths. The Expansion will come loaded with factory sounds, but the company says that the ability to load user samples is on the way. Preliminary info indicates there will be support for WAV, KSC, KMP, KSF, and SoundFont sample formats. Using the Blofeld synth engine, this will be a tremendously powerful feature – you can load samples into two of the unit’s three oscillators, and, in fact, can load multi-sample maps into two oscillators, allowing you to create extremely complex sounds (the company gives the example of loading a drum kit into Oscillator 1, multi-sampled hits into Oscillator 2, and a factory wavetable or Virtual Analog Wave in Oscillator 3…)
